We were recently called to assist a business in Liverpool that was unable to open their Fichet-Bauche safe. The staff had always secured the safe using just the key, and it had worked perfectly for years. However, on this occasion the key suddenly would not open the safe, leaving them unable to access the contents.
Fichet-Bauche safes are well known for their high-security locking systems, often combining both a key lock and a mechanical combination lock. In many cases, businesses use only one of the locks during day-to-day operation. Unfortunately, if the combination dial is accidentally moved or “scrambled”, the safe will no longer open with the key alone, as both locks must be correctly set.
After attending the site and assessing the safe, we quickly identified that the combination lock had been accidentally altered, which was preventing the boltwork from operating even though the correct key was being used.
Using our specialist skills and experience with Fichet-Bauche locking systems, we were able to determine the correct combination for the lock. Once the dial was set to the proper numbers, the key operated the mechanism normally and the safe opened without any damage.
The business was relieved to regain access quickly and to learn what had caused the issue. We also provided advice on how the locking system works and how to avoid the same problem happening again in the future.
Another secure and professional safe opening completed by Paladin Safe Services in Liverpool, helping businesses get back into their safes quickly and safely.
