Fort Knox Key Stuck In Safe

Fort Knox Key Stuck In Safe

We were asked to open this Fort Knox safe after a key had been forced and snapped in the lock at a private residence near Richmond in North Yorkshire. Having removed the offending key we identified that it was a five lever mortice lock key and not the correct key for this safe. With the offending key removed we picked the safe open to reveal it’s contents for the owner.

Rosengren the European key Stuck In Safe

Rosengrens the European Grade 5

The operator failed to secure the key bit correctly to the stem when attempting to unlock this Rosengrens European Grade 5 safe at a furniture and home furnishings store in Warrington. Without the bit being correctly attached it got jammed in the lock and they could not remove it or open the safe to recover the money that they had come to collect. Using medical grade optical equipment we were able to perform key hole surgery to both identify and remedy the situation with no damage to the safe or key.

Churchill Domestic Underfloor Safe

Churchill Domestic Safe

This Churchill Domestic under floor safe in Sandbach, Cheshire would not open for the owners and the key was stuck in the lock. Initial diagnostics suggested that the lock was open but there was something blocking the rotation of the lid to both the open and the closed positions. We were able to rectify the situation without damaging the lid on this occasion but it’s important to never over-fill any safe. This is particularly important for this style of safe as the lock and bolt work are exposed underneath the lid so that anything touching it can block it and cause a lock out.

Brattonsound Safe Opening

Brattonsound Gun Safe Opening

Client called early on a Saturday morning as the key to this Brattonsound Gun Safe in Great Harwood was stuck in the lock and he was understandably worried about leaving the house with the key left in the lock. We attended site within the hour and was able to remove the key allowing us to identify with the use of a scope that the lock was ‘half cocked’. These are double throw locks which means that the key needs to be rotated twice to fully lock or unlock it, in this instance the lock had only been thrown once and in this state it is not possible to insert the key. With the use of a specialist tool we were able to reset the lock to the fully locked position and thus enabled the key to be inserted to unlock the gun cabinet.
