The key would no longer work in this Fort Knox Exchequer under floor safe in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan. We decided to bring it back to the workshop for an overhaul. With a replacement lock, a service and two new keys she’s good to go again.
Safe Key Wont Work
Securikey Premier Safe Won’t Open With Key
Despite having two keys the owner could not gain access to her Securikey Premier safe at her home in Knutsford, Cheshire. We attended her home and opened it nondestructively.
Chubb Europa Safe Keys Not Working
The owners of a restaurant in Haydock, St Helens couldn’t use this Chubb Europa safe as it would not lock with the key. We identified the problem as a worn out lock and replaced it for them so they could secure their takings once again.
Dreadnought Defender ABP Safe Opening
This Dreadnought Defender ABP underfloor safe at a petrol station in Bromborough, Wirral would not open with the key. Initial inspection showed that the lock was loose and we could see that one of the three relocking devices had activated which meant that this was going to be a drill open job. Having drilled through the extremely tough lid it became apparent that all three relockers had fired which meant a second hole had to be made to deactivate them and finally allow the bolts to be withdrawn to open it.
Fort Knox Underfloor Safe Opening
The owner could not open this Fort Knox underfloor safe at a motor parts shop in Leigh, Greater Manchester despite having two keys for it. The safe hadn’t been opened for a number of years and a look inside the lock with our specialised optical equipment showed that it was full of rust. It took a while but eventually we got it open to find it was full of water so hardly surprising that the lock had seized after being submerged for so long.
Leigh Safes Essex
We had an urgent call from a B&B in the Lake District near Ambleside to gain access to this Leigh Safes Essex safe as none of the keys they had would open it. We attended site, quickly diagnosed the issue and opened the safe for them.
Chubb Lichfield Keys Not Working
We were called to this Chubb safe at a department store in Salford after it was reported that the safe could not be locked. With the two keys on site we were unable to identify any issues as it locked and unlocked fine. Upon further inspection of the boltwork and the lock we were still unable to find anything that would prevent it from locking. Our best guess is that there was something inside the safe blocking it which had since been moved but we will never know for sure.
J Grove Safe Opening
This antique J Grove safe at a church in Cumbria would not open as the key could not be inserted into the lock. We quickly diagnosed and corrected the problem leaving the safe in working order.
Stratford Stronghold Opening
This Stratford Stronghold safe at a bar in Manchester was locked and neither of the keys would open it. We were told that they had always had to jiggle the keys in the lock to get it to work. We picked the lock open and identified that the keys were so badly cut that they had caused the lockout. We provided new keys to the lock which work every time without the need to shake it about in the lock and hope that it opens. If a safe is difficult to open then always get it checked out by a safe engineer before it becomes a major problem.
Dudley Grade 1 Safe Opening
This Dudley Grade 1 safe in Blackpool had been troublesome to operate for some time until eventually it failed and couldn’t be opened by the store staff. We successfully opened the safe and replaced the worn out lock.
